ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

For 2017 entry, the University of Chester will accept the new A level, AS level and GCSE qualifications, and will continue to make offers using a mixture of tariff points and grades, or just grades.

Students taking A levels are normally expected to present at least three A levels for entry to our undergraduate courses. Our undergraduate prospectus and website outlines specific subject requirements. We will continue to welcome applications from students studying a fourth AS Level or EPQ, but recognise that this may not be available as an option for all students and will ensure that applicants are not disadvantaged as a consequence. Where an applicant does not offer AS Levels we will base our admissions decision on GCSE performance and A Level predictions as well as the reference and personal statement.

We accept applications from students with relevant BTEC, OCR Cambridge Technical and other vocational qualifications as well as a mix of A Levels, Welsh Baccalaureate and BTEC/OCR courses.

Specific programme requirements for GCSE achievement will be adjusted to fit the new grading format, using guidance from Ofqual on grade equivalences.

More details on information standards is available on their website.

CAREERS GUIDANCE

Careers guidance at the University of Chester is offered both through core services and curriculum delivery by their team of specialist Career Consultants and other team members.

Careers and Employability at the University of Chester is staffed by two offices, at the Chester Parkgate Road and Warrington campuses.

Their goal is to enable students to graduate as employable, work-ready, self-aware and resilient so that they can meet the changing demands of the labour market.

Core services delivered at the Careers and Employability offices include drop-in CV advice, longer guidance appointments to explore career planning or interview practice, and a wide range of training sessions and workshops on careers skills such as job searching, interview skills, and assessment centres.

Sessions range from CV workshops and employability skills audits to employer-led training and sessions on specialist sector knowledge. While these sessions inevitably complement individual degree programmes, Careers and Employability aims to prepare students to enter as wide a range of potential careers as possible.

They also collaborate with academic faculties and departments to hold careers events and conferences, where employers share perspectives on their professions with students.
