School of Engineering
Undergraduate
BEng (Hons) Automotive Engineering
This degree gives the specialised expertise you need to become a professional engineer in the automotive industry, or equally provide you with the right skill set to take up a career in motorsport. During this course, you will be supported by a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and a mix of theory and practice.
BEng (Hons) Chemical Engineering
The BEng in chemical engineering is designed to develop your engineering skills, in the context of a firm grounding in chemistry. To ensure this you share a common first year with chemists. In later years you go on to specialise at a more advanced level in the core engineering topics. In addition you study the important topics of business, management and sustainability, all the while developing and applying problem-solving skills. Your computer modelling skills will also be developed with a strong emphasis on process simulation. You have the option to spend an additional year on placement in industry after your second academic year. Many students take advantage of this option, and find the experience of great benefit both in their development as an engineer and in their final year performance.
BEng (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering
This programme will expose you to the latest developments in electrical and electronic engineering. Degrees develop engineers with a firm grounding in electronics, plus the specialist skills required to work at the forefront of electrical engineering, power and control. After a common foundation year in electrical science and electronics, you will go on to study specialist modules in topics such as electrical machines, power electronics, power engineering, renewable energy generation and control engineering.
BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering
The Mechanical Engineering course provides a comprehensive engineering education covering design, engineering mathematics and its application, the core concepts of mechanics, thermodynamics, structural dynamics, materials and the behaviour of fluids. As you progress through the course, you will also cover the principles of control systems, advanced materials and manufacturing processes including Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM)/ 3D-printing of plastics and metals.
BA (Hons) Architecture
The BA Hons Architecture programme is a first step in a professional career in architecture. The programme offers students a range of approaches to architectural design through studio-based tutorial groups or units. Each unit explores a different aspect of architectural design, ranging from new technologies, emerging social conditions and contemporary cultural contexts, to more abstract aesthetic and theoretical concerns.
Building Studies HNC
It explores the construction of new properties and the adaptation and restoration of existing buildings. You are introduced to all aspects of construction including design, health and safety and management.
