The university’s main campus was founded in 1913 as a School of Mines. The university is one of Britain’s most exciting new universities and a major player in higher education.
The university was given its Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1965. Since the inception of the league tables Warwick has never been outside of the top ten universities in the UK.
The Warwick Manufacturing Group was originally founded in 1980 by Kumar Bhattacharyya to support the reinvigoration of UK manufacturing through research and knowledge transfer.
In 1595 the Bristol Society of Merchant Venturers’ Navigation School is founded. In 1992 Bristol Polytechnic gains university status, becoming the University of the West of England (UWE).
First polytechnic in the UK. Home to the 1st public moving picture show in the UK and the birthplace of British cinema. Now restored as the iconic Regent Street Cinema.
Writtle College was founded in 1893, making it one of the longest-established specialist colleges in the UK. Writtle is a partner institution of the University of Essex.
