Health Education England or HEE is the new national leadership organization for education, training and workforce development in the health sector. The health education support excellent healthcare and health improvement so that students of today and tomorrow have the right skills, values, and behaviors. 

Before going into detail about the Health Education it is important to know how the National Health Service works and what it is about: 

The NHS is responsible for the healthcare of people from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England, and it’s free to use for all UK residents. The NHS is an extremely large organization, so lots of people are in charge of different parts. The NHS currently stands more than 64.6 million people in the UK, 54.3 million people in England and deals with about 1 million patients every two days. People are free to use services like antenatal screening, routine screenings, treatments for long-term conditions, transplants, emergency treatments and end of life care. 

The NHS is free to use and it’s funded from taxation. At the moment the NHS is managing a budget of about £101.3 billion. However, depending on which UK country you live in, you may have to pay for medicine and prescriptions. If you are not living in the UK you can still walk into a hospital and get medical help, of course, you may have to pay for it.

The NHS is the top targets workforce, with 1.5 million employees. Including 150,273 qualified doctors, 40,584 GPs, 314,966 nurses, 18,862 ambulance staff and 111,127 hospital and community health service.

Health Education in England

MSc Nursing

The MSc Nursing course lasts one year and it requires a 2.2 Honours degree in Nursing. 

After finishing the course it will enable you to get a position as a nurse manager or nurse consultant. 

The course is programmed for you to study the following subjects; Research methods and project management, sociological prospectives in health and epidemiology for public health. 

MSc Health Science 

This course lasts one year and it requires 2.2 Honours degree in Health science or any relating area. The course includes the following subjects; Health research methods, principles of clinical neuroscience, epidemiology, epidemiology for public health, biomedical practical on brain function and principles of nursing. 

After finishing the course you can expect to work in the following positions; Health service administrator, nutritionist and public health and occupational therapist. 

MSc Environmental Management and Assistant 

The course duration is one year and it requires a 2.2 Honours degree in Health science or any related area. During the year you will see the following subjects; Environmental awareness, data analysis and research methods, pollution monitoring and control, environmental auditing and management system, health and safety, risk assessment and management and masters research project. 

After finishing the course you will have the following career protectives; Health and safety manager or consultant, environmental manager, project leader, consultant or auditor, health safety and environmental manager, environmental and sustainability manager, waste manager and pollution control agency manager. 

MSc drug discovery and development 

Likewise to the previous courses, this course lasts one year and it requires a 2.2 honours degree in pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology and biomedical science. During this year you will attend the following classes; Advanced pharmacology, pharmacogenomics and proteomics, advanced pharmaceutical analysis, advanced drug design and advanced pharmaceutics. 

After finishing the course you will have the following career prospective; Pharmaceutical analyser and researcher, clinical research, drug designer and formulation and product development.  

MSc Clinical Pharmacology 

The course lasts one year and it requires a 2.2 Honours degree in pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacy, biomedical science or a medical degree. During the year you will attend the following classes; Drug disposition, pharmaceutical medicine, topics in therapeutics –  commonly used drugs, medical statistics, pharmacogenomics, molecular medicine and applied pharmacogenomics.

After finishing the course you will expect to work in the following industries; Academia, health care and pharmaceutical.
